‘Learning through movement’

Enhance your flexibility and enjoy a fresh feeling of lightness with the Feldenkrais® method! Small changes in movement patterns can lead to more substantial changes in the nervous system, resulting in pain relief and greater overall mobility. Moshé Feldenkrais, the founder of this gentle form of exercise, showed how breaking old patterns of moving could lead to completely redefining movement sequences. This system of re-education allows us to explore our physical capabilities and achieve body awareness through movement. It’s an education, not a workout! At the Park Igls Mayr clinic, we combine the Feldenkrais® method with mental coaching sessions to investigate patterns of thought and behaviour and identify new pathways that allow us to overcome internal resistance.

In Moshé Feldenkrais’ view, people act in accordance with their self-image. One third of this is genetic, one third is learnt and one third is determined by self-education. In order to change pain-generating patterns of behaviour it is necessary to first change or expand one’s own self-image. To do this, Moshé Feldenkrais developed a method that can be taught in two ways: with verbal instructions, and non-verbally with the help of functional integration. The aim of the Feldenkrais® method is to change and develop elements such as movement, sensory perception and feeling.
