Green detox smoothie

Recipe for detoxing in between

... for 4 glasses

  • 200g leafy vegetables and herbs, e.g. kale, nettles, parsley etc.
  • 800ml water or cold green tea
  • 1 cucumber
  • 1 pear
  • 1 grapefruit
  • 30g pecans or other nuts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or linseed oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper

PREPARATION

1. Wash leafy greens and herbs …

… and, except for the parsley, remove stalks. Let the nettles rest for a while to stop them stinging.

2. Add the greens …

… to boiling water, starting with the kale (about 3 minutes), then the nettles (about 30 seconds), and merely blanch the parsley. Drain the greens, plunge colander into iced water, then gently squeeze out any excess liquid before chopping.

3. Wash, top and tail the cucumber …

… and grate it straight into the blender. Wash, core the pear and grate into the blender. Squeeze the grapefruit, add the juice, the greens and remaining ingredients and blend for about three minutes at the highest speed.

4. Pass the smoothie through …

… a fine sieve and drink in small sips on an empty stomach. Even better: eat the smoothie like a soup, insalivating each spoonful.
